Solution

Question:

Everytime I pick which file I want to download, the status of the file stays on "Searching", and sometimes, the downloads go very slowly. Why is this?
Answer:

  • The song you tried to download has a low availability rating (the stars that show up next to the file on the search tab). Go back and search for the song again. Try to find the file you want with 2 or more stars. The more stars a file has, the easier it will be for you to download it.

  • Be patient. Warez will automatically search for the best connection and search for more users to download off of. There is no "Speed Up/ Find More Sources" option, as it is already built in to the system. Warez automatically searches for more sources.

  • Once again, you may be running an old version of Warez. Uninstall the program completely. Restart your computer. Download new copy of Warez. Install this and run the program again. Try download'ing the file(s) again.

  • (Advanced users) The port server you're on is blocked--on the port server area of the preferences menu try using port #80, or 71. (Go to Warez preferences, then click on "Network". It should be set to 0. Try changing the port number in the "Transfer" tab as well.)

  • If the download seems to be going much too slow (and the availability rating for it was good), a trick some users do is pause the download. Wait, then resume it.

  • Also, if the download is crawling along (less than 1kbs), cancel the download. Go back to the search tab and search for the file again (Since Warez is continually searching for users, sometimes the number of files available changes). Find the file you want and try download'ing it again.

  • Jumping nodes may be a good idea in this situation. Go to the Warez preferences window and click on 'Disconnect'. Wait a real minute or two. Then, click on 'Connect'. Sometimes Warez will dump you on a new node that has better running performance by giving you a better list of available files.

  • If you are download'ing a file and their username is visible (if you're looking in the 'Transfer' tab), you can right click their name and choose 'Directly Chat' with the user. In the next screen that pops up, it will show you a connection attempt being made. If it connects, and it will tell you so, you can directly browse through their files and download the file you want on a solid connection that should move speedily (especially if they have broadband). Or, you can ask them to send the file to you.
